Hi Stephen,
I thought I just mention kettlebell training as an alternative for your training if running and walking is a little difficult right now.

With KBs you don't need to go anywhere, in fact you can train in your backyard or any open space and get good results in a small period of time.

Anyway, I hope you get better soon.

Cheers

I will never be a Craig Alexander, but it's okay. Many kilos to go on the weight loss before it all feels truly comfortable, but I am making progress.

First race (very short) probably late November.

Yep, can't help myself, I do some fairly comprehensive logging of my activities.

Weight, % Fat, Temperature, km's run, shoes, type of run.

Recently participated in an AIS study and got my VO2Max score, so I may even get a heartrate monitor soon.

Been trying a few websites this year that track progress but none of them are up to the PC application I use. Have been experimenting with Daily Mile the last couple of weeks and it seems reasonable, but not geeky enough for serious runners.

Great that you managed to do the run -- and, most importantly, with the family. Get back on the wagon, my friend.

Awesome Stephen
My father died at 39; I went through the same I've got to be fit, and at that age I was arguably as fit as at any time in my entire life.

I've also fallen off the wagon since; 'too busy' organising the events in which inspired people can compete. This July however I signed on with Dry July, to raise fund for cancer research; the 'deadly dancer' responsible for both my parents early demise.

Your tale will surely drive me back to 'paddling' my Finn ski, and we'll see what happens from there - my MTB is far too unused also.

Glad to have you back in the 'Ironman' family!

The event awaits - ironically 2010 it its 10th anniverary!
