About me

Me. The view off my verandah behind me.
Look behind me. The view is lovely!

<very Obi-Wan voice> Hello, there!

I'm your friendly, local, terminally online ex-pat Tasmanian with a head removal scar to prove it. I've lived and travelled in a bunch of places.

I live with my partner and BIL (a person with disabilities) in the bush in Djiringanj Yuin country and run a bed and breakfast in the mountains of the Bega Valley in a place called Brogo (NSW, Australia). We're 25km from the nearest town (Bega) living on 100 acres of primarily remnant endangered forest.

I also work on a large dairy farm (1800 acres/728ha) where the operation runs between 800 and 1000 milking cattle supplying to the Bega Group and am involved in the industry as a board member of Dairy NSW.

I've spent 20 years as a user experience and service designer with expertise in government and the public sector, user experience, service design, organisational design, open government, communications, innovation, designful leadership, and organisational culture.

You'll see posts here about bush life, our journey to energy independence and off-grid, conservation, biodiversity, homesteading, ethical feral species hunting, the outdoors, sustainability, right to repair, DIY, and handyperson things. I also post here with musings and homebrew content for the roleplaying games I'm playing.

I'm also into archery, being a husband, (grand)dad and carer, gaming (console PS5, TTRPGs, and board games), and progressive politics.
